BACHMANN 32-678DS
CLASS 45 DIESEL D55 ROYAL SIGNALS
BR GREEN WITH SOUND

This is my first class 45
locomotive, having had no previous experiences with this class
of loco in either model or full scale form. I do recall seeing
these locos on rare occasions working secondary passenger trains
but they were never a part of my railway employment scene.
With very little experience of them it would be unfair for me to
compare the model to its full sized brothers but the model does
look like a 'Peak' to me and that all important nose appears to
have been modelled extremely well.

Operationally the loco goes from a
very smooth and steady crawl up to a prototypical top speed with
very little noise but of course, noise is the primary reason for
my purchase of this particular model so how does it fare? Well
disappointingly for me, this is rather similar to the Bachmann
class 47 in that after just a few circuits the recurring 'high
rev' sound begins to annoy me and I find it time to press F1
once more before people start complaining! I'm not sure I
remember class 45's making that dreadful recurring noise so it's
maybe just the limitations of digital recorders - at least I
hope so. Perhaps I need to listen to some other recordings of
class 45's before passing judgement.
