BACHMANN 32-033DS
CLASS 20 DIESEL D8158 BR GREEN
BOX HEAD CODE WITH SOUND
This is one of two Bachmann
sound-fitted class 20 locomotives I have purchased (both are
item no: 32-033DS) The chassis from the second locomotive has
been used beneath the body of D8101 (item no: 32-042DC) giving
me a pair of BR Green class 20's that I can use double headed.
Appearance of the class 20 is to Bachmann's usual high standards
and performance appears to be all that could be required. The
Bachmann class 20 sound hasn't been entirely well praised in all
quarters and if you listen to the recording of my pair made by
myself recently the 'whistling' can become annoying after a
while. However, class 20's were noisy and their constant
whistling could become annoying at times and to be honest, it
does obviously sound a lot worse on my video than it actually
was at the time because I didn't notice it at all whilst
filming.
I really like the class 20 and with the benefit of DCC control
and the ability to consist the two locomotives together,
double-heading is now a simple matter even when both loco's are
powered. When first consisted they work exactly in unison and
run as near as damn it at the same speed (having checked them a
short distance apart). Great little loco's and I'm looking
forward to operating them a good deal in the future.
